Designed for bike park laps and the DH course, the all-new Quake has benefited from an immersive development cycle where top riders have provided invaluable feedback over multiple generations of development samples. During this time, it was proven both strong and capable by some of the best riders in the sport, including Matt Jones, Mark Matthews, and Vinnie Moonen at some of the most demanding events, including Darkfest and Hardline, along with some of the steepest and most challenging tracks on earth
An all-new Series 4 MultiTrac 2 frame features 180mm rear wheel travel and flip chips that allow the rider to select the bottom bracket height and chainstay length, along with the ability to run a 29" rear wheel.
The Quake frame kit includes a shock, headset and thru-axle, so it is all ready for you to build up the Quake that best suits your needs and budget.
Technology
FRAME & TRAVEL
The Series 4 Aluminum frame features the MultiTrac 2 LT suspension platform with 180mm travel. MultiTrac 2 LT shifts from seatstay pivots to chainstay pivots, ensuring that the suspension performance matches our design goals, which are not achievable using pivots located on the seatstay once travel exceeds 150mm. The benefits of relocating the rear pivot points from the seatstay to the chainstay become apparent, as it reduces anti-rise, allowing for better chassis control while braking, more mid-stroke support, and better feel at bottom out. Furthermore, relocation of the pivots provides the added benefit of allowing for adjustable chainstay lengths and bottom bracket heights. Ultimately, it’s a better-riding, better-performing suspension system made possible by the new pivot placement.
FLIP CHIPS
Integrated flip chips allow the rider to quickly and easily choose from multiple configurations, based on terrain and equipment preference. Chainstay length and bottom bracket height can be set to low BB/long CS (353mm/440mm) or high BB/short CS (361mm/430mm). Those who prefer to run the Quake with a 29” rear wheel instead of the stock 27.5” can change the position of the seatstay chips to accommodate the larger diameter rear wheel.
PROTECTION
Chainstay and seatstays are protected with durable rubber guards that minimize noise and protect paint finishes, a gasket around the cable exit hole reduces noise and prevents the brake hose and derailleur cable from marring the frame, and a mudflap positioned over the lower suspension pivot keeps spray and muck off the bearings. An integrated lower downtube guard helps deflect errant rocks, logs, or anything else riders may encounter on the trail, while an upper downtube shuttle pad protects the frame when hanging over a tailgate. Cable ports are of an all-new design and keep the frame innards sealed. These ports use rubber membranes punctured during initial assembly and seal around the housing or hose once inserted. They will be available as a service part when riders make change their components.
SRAM FULL MOUNT COMPATIBLE
Modern bikes incorporate modern features, and the Quake is no exception, utilizing SRAM’s Universal Derailleur Hanger standard for the dropout and hanger. This feature allows Quake riders to upgrade to a direct mount rear derailleur if desired.
HEADTUBE AND HEADSET COMPATIBILITY
The Quake’s headtube is a 56ZS (56mm diameter, zero stack), to maximize aftermarket headset options for reach and headtube angle adjustments. Furthermore, the frame is also compatible with most appropriate single crown forks, with 29” or 27.5” front wheels. Riders who switch to 27.5” wheels need to use a 10-15mm external lower cup for 180-190mm single crown or 200mm dual crown forks.
SPECIFICATIONS
The Quake is available as one model and one frame kit. We’ve chosen a no-nonsense build kit, starting with RockShox’s storied Boxxer fork paired with a Super Deluxe DH Select+ shock. The Boxxer is renowned for its balance of performance and durability, and it is quickly and relatively affordably upgradable to a Charger 3.1 damper for riders who demand the utmost performance and adjustability. Out back, the top-shelf RockShox Vivid Coil Ultimate DH shock has hydraulic bottom out and adjustable low and high-speed compression damping to dial in the perfect ride. SRAM’s gravity-specific GX DH 7-speed drivetrain has the tight range needed in gravity applications, while powerful Maven Bronze four-piston brakes and 200mm HS2 rotors rein speed. Maxxis DH-rated rubber and SRAM’s venerable Descendant crankset, handlebar, and direct-mount stem round out the stout parts mix, designed for long life in some of the harshest riding conditions.
The Quake frame kit consists of the frame, rear shock, headset, axle, UDH and seat clamp.
